MEDIA SPECIALIST / RECEPTIONIST

- Salary Range: $35,000 – $42,000 (Commensurate with experience)

First Priority of Greater Decatur is a mission-driven organization dedicated to “Taking the Hope of Christ to Every student” in Morgan, Lawrence, and Cullman counties. We are passionate about serving our community and creating meaningful and eternal change through faith-based student led campus clubs. We’re looking to grow our staff and team with a warm, creative, and detail-oriented Media Specialist / Receptionist that will be the first friendly face our visitors meet—and the digital voice that represents our cause and brand online.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This hybrid role blends front-desk administrative support with creative communications. As the Media Specialist / Receptionist, this position will have varying duties within the spectrum of planning, creating, and producing digital and printed content across all platforms. This includes, but is not limited to, social media platforms, future podcast, advertising, emails, and our monthly newsletter, while ensuring a professional, welcoming environment at our front office. This position will also oversee and will work in relationship with 3rd party vendors as needed. Occasional travel may be necessary to fulfill the duties of this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reception / Administrative Support (40%)
- Greet visitors, clients, and donors in a professional and welcoming manner
- Answer and direct phone calls and emails
- Manage front desk operations and maintain a tidy, organized reception area
- Schedule appointments and coordinate meetings as needed
- Assist with mailings, filing, and other clerical tasks
- Provide general administrative support to staff as needed
- Daily track attendance numbers and decisions for campus clubs
- Be the office support staff for clubs across the Greater Decatur region
- Attend all campus ministry training events (evenings) as well as all Fundraising/Special events (some weekends) as required by the Executive Director
Media & Communications (60%)
- Assist in writing and formatting newsletters, blog posts, and press releases
- Update and maintain the organization’s website and media calendar
- Support event promotion, outreach campaigns, and photo/video content creation
- Collaborate with program staff to share stories, updates, and successes with the public
- Track social media metrics and assist in analyzing engagement and reach
- Develop creative ideas, suggest new innovative ways of delivering digital content, and keep up to date with the latest digital marketing trends.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in an administrative or receptionist role
- Familiarity with social media management and basic content creation
- Manage and create content for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Possess at least basic skills of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
- Friendly, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
- A person of integrity that maintains and keeps the utmost confidentiality of all sensitive ministry information.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable
- A passion for non-profit work and community service
- Works cooperatively with others but also is motivated to work independently with little or no supervision.
PREFERRED (but not required)
- Video content shooting and editing skills
- Experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress)
